Perfect Shot

RiffRaff and I went up to his permission yesterday and had a little spot of bunny bashing.

Sadly the bunnies were not playing ball. Nor were they sticking around long enough to get a shot off!

Anyways while RiffRaff is out on another field chatting up the farmer (and landing himself new permission in doing so) I'm crawling round the hedgerow on my belly when I come around the corner and am met with 2 bunnies about 20 yards away from me. Both only little ones, but food is food.

1st little fluffy fecker see's me raising the rifle to the pod and catches a glint from the scope lens and bolts, 2nd one takes heed of its mate and does one as well!

About 50 yards away there were two other little ones chasing each other backwards and forwards in and out of the hedgerows and another 10 yards past them.

I decided a belly crawl for another 20 yards was just too much with the amount of sheep crap that was about so I got on all fours and made like a camo'd sheep slowly moving and pulling my rifle with me.

I got a bit further and they went into the hedgerow and didn't return :censored:

Still the one in the far corner was heading right towards me :D

I get as far down as I can and this thing is comming right into the path my pellets about to take.

Now my comfort zone on live quarry is 30 yards (standing with a springer) I decided to let this bigger bunny get to about 40 yards from me. I slid my eye up to the scope and as I was zero'd at 30 I aimed just a tiny touch above his scalp between his ears. I figured, if I was gonna miss it would be a clean one, but I felt very confident. Mr bunny stoped dead in his tracks for some reason and I took my shot.

A little phut as the pellet left the custom silencer and bunny lifts its front paws up and porceeds to do a backward roll. I didn't hear the pellet strike, but sure as day is day and night is night, bunny don't get up again, no kicks nothing :icon_eek:

I wanders over to where bugs is laid on the deck, the only blood was comming from his nose and mouth but he was as dead as a Dodo :victory:

I examined my kill looking for an entrace wound but could not find one. I felt around the back of the neck and theres a lump :clapper: I had to skin it to be sure of what had happened.

The bunny had opened his mouth as I had squeezed the trigger. Pellet entered the back of the throat and had severed the spinal vertabrae resulting in an instant kill.

I measured it out in paces and it came to just over 45 paces, so I'll say it was about 40 yards.

Very pleased with myself. Good sized bunny as well.

Cheers guy's,

Some would say 'lucky' but if bugs hadn't opened his gob for a free meal, he would have gotten it right between the eye balls

I would agree though I bet I couldn't pull it off again ;)

Please note I left his dental work intact :D

I did that about a year and a half ago mate lol . Rabbit stood on his back legs looking at my s410 ( at the time ) poking out of a bush at around 30 yards.

Shot a hollowpoint took all his dental work out and left a rather large hole where his brain used to be behind his ears.

With its mouth shut cudnt find the entry wound me and my mate where very confused for a good few minutes lol :D

Its a common thing to happen theses days as wabbits are getting more and more into watching these television shows with magicians and the they think they can catch a bullet with their teeth as well. The thing is that they can't read the " Don't do this in your warren " disclaimer that they have at the end of every show.
